Description:
MAP01. What a beast. The starting part is the hardest, the rest is pretty
much just autopilot. The idea at the start is to kill everything and not
awaken the dark red barons of hell, as they're way too tanky and their
projectiles will interfere with killing the cyberdemon. Once the cyberdemon
is dead and the switch to the gravity room full of cacos is revealed, the
next part is getting to the first secret, which requires a drop down on a
tree to go through a vent, something that can easily by missed, and if you're
too slow, the Spider Mastermind will melt you before you can even get through
the vent fully. Once there, the yellow key is snatched, evade the yellow key
area and autopilot mode begins.
What I could have improved: My weapon usage and perhaps how I tackled areas.
Using the plasma rifle is fine and all, but the real powerhouse is the rocket
launcher with its extra blast damage, which I completely underused in this one.
Another thing is clearing out the main field guarded by the cyberdemons,
this one there should be less time spent shooting the red barons from afar and
just getting up close. The cyberdemons guarding the red key could have been
fought more bravely. After yoinking the red key and the blue key, there should
have been a focus to go into the blue door instead of tackling the armory,
as after getting through the blue door cyberdemons, the orange key is obtained,
which can be used to unlock the BFG secret, and with the BFG, clear out everything
more efficiently.
Due to the difficulty of the start of the map, getting a better run won't be
so easy, and I don't really have the motivation for it, but maybe sometime
in the future.
