The SC-8820's SC-55 mode is not exactly the same as the original SC-55 or SC-55mkII (this is stated in the SC-8820's manual). Some songs sound identical, but there are a few instruments that have slight differences. For example, the tone of String Ensemble 1 (used in E1M5 music) sounds different on the original SC-55. Despite this, Sound Canvas VA is still far better than Virtual Sound Canvas.
