DOOM Slaughter Carnival Week 5 - DOOM II (Punisher II: The Contest) - UV-Fast Playthrough
In celebration of DOOM's 30th Anniversary, we will be performing some playthroughs of Classic DOOM's difficult maps. If some maps are proven to easy, we may possibly up the ante to UV-Fast as well.
This is the concluding week to DOOM Slaughter Carnival (Week # 5) featuring one of Dario Casali's difficult WADs, Punisher II: The Contest.
Btw, happy 30th Anniversary to DOOM as well.
This is a casual UV-Fast of DOOM II's Punisher II: The Contest (WTF-PNSH.WAD) starting with a pistol, no saves, fast monsters enabled and with all kills and secrets.
The txt file WTF-PNSH describes this map as follows:
For the demo competition I altered the original Punisher, mostly by a new set of monsters, but also made some structural changes too.
This is the harened Doomer's Punishment level. The original Punisher was too easy for some so I made sure that this would provide the very toughest Doomers with their most challenging level ever.
Monsters have been placed so they can kill themselves if you want, but if you're going for a fast time, you can't afford that luxury. There's more than enough ammo and health, and three invulnerabilities. I have changed the position of one because I thought it got in the way in the original.
All multiplayer starts are there.
There are no skill levels.
There IS a really nasty ending, so don't think you'll be able to rush to the exit like last time. If you do, prepare to be exploded into lost of little pieces.
This map has 755 enemies. The layout is the same as the first Punisher WAD but the author has added additional enemies, including shotgunners at the beginning so it can prove very difficult with fast monsters but the rest can be played smoothly. Remember to always prioritize arch-viles and pain elementals if things get too rough, and make use of the invul spheres at crucial moments. And the exit also has a voodoo doll with barrels and chaingunners so you may want to spare a single invul towards the end.
Played on Woof 10.1.0 source port with the original PWAD. This came with a MIDI version of 'Sanctify' by Nine Inch Nails but to be safe from getting copyrighted, we have stuck with the music of Struggle: Antaresian Legacy MAP20 - Fortress 2 Blue: The Invincible.
