DOOM VFR - One Of The Best VR Shooters
First off, I consider DOOM (2016) to be one of the best games of all time and easily one of the best shooters of all time. I had some high expectations for DOOM VFR but I tried my hardest to keep them in check, and whether I did or didn't, I think DOOM VFR lived up to them. Once the smooth-locomotion got added, it became fantastic. At this point, my only two flaws with the game are the length, I would have loved one or two more hours, and the glory kills. In DOOM (2016) they are fully animated in such glory, pun intended, but in VFR you just telefrag into enemies and there's no glories melee finisher. Yes, canned animations are something of a no-no for VR, but it would have been awesome if they thought up some way to handle it. Like when an enemy goes into the flickering state to be telefraged/glory killed, we could actually grab onto parts of them and rip them apart, like in GORN. Despite that, a fantastic VR shooter with some super satisfying combat.
