Edit: the calculations in this video are actually wrong, because I had the base exp constant wrong from the previous patch. Sorry!
However, I still believe kill/snowball heroes are the way to play lanes because of other factors, such as the new calculation favoring solo kills (which happen a lot in dual lanes, if your support dies), ending killing sprees, and because the res timer is quite a bit longer in the earlier levels, meaning it's more punishing to die (you'll lose exp from quite a few creeps).
One final note: I've noticed in this patch there's a huge amount of double waving happening, possibly due to the way the creeps run now to the lanes, but it's very typical to die against a double wave (because there's so many creeps), then because of the new res timer you miss out on 2 waves of experience and your opponents don't. That probably also plays a huge part.
