Abstract: When one first hears about the strategy 'Double Plus One' to beat roulette, it seems too good to be true; that's because it is! This problem and its analysis are a great springboard to teach students from high school through college about the power of coding, gathering and analyzing data, and mathematical modeling. We explain how to use this problem as a springboard to those concepts, and see that we can solve the model through a generalization of the Fibonacci numbers.
