Dragon Age: Inquisition - Here Lies the Abyss
[WARNING: THIS VIDEO CONTAINS SPOILERS FROM THE MAIN QUESTLINE OF DRAGON AGE: INQUISITION]
This video features the whole main quest Here Lies the Abyss from Dragon Age: Inquisition. More specifically, the video starts with the first cutscene of the quest after the war table and ends with the aftermath of the Inquisitor's visit to the Fade. Notably, I've cut the section of the quest taking place in Crestwood where Hawke leads the character to his Grey Warden ally, and several minor gameplay bits.
Since the video is over half an hour long, here you can find its highlights for easy acess:
- The siege of Adamant (00:00)
- Confrontation in the main courtyard (3:33)
- Accessing the Raw Fade (8:46)
- Meeting the spirit of the Divine (13:09)
- First flashback (16:16)
- Second flashback (19:36)
- Nightmare boss fight (23:31)
- Escape and aftermath (26:45)
The Grey Warden ally Hawke will introduce to the Inquisitor depends, oddly enough, on how you handled the Landsmeet quest back in Dragon Age: Origins. That said, the following accompanying NPCs are possible:
- If Loghain was forced to take the Joining and became a Grey Warden, he will become your ally for Here Lies the Abyss, regardless of Alistair's condition in your state of the world.
- Alistair will be your Warden Ally if he didn't become the kind of Ferelden AND remained in your party. This assumes that Loghain was killed and either Anora became the sole ruler or rules alongside the Hero of Ferelden.
- If the conditions mentioned above aren't met (or Alistair is dead), then Hawke will introduce you to Warden Stroud, a NPC you could meet during the events of Dragon Age II.
You can avoid a confrontation with a group of Grey Wardens in Adamant's main courtyard by either:
- Having urged some Wardens you met minutes prior to retreat to safety, thus sparing them, and choosing the special option presented.
- Having unlocked the Inquisition's history knowledge perk and taking advantage of the unique answer you can give them.
Aspect of Nightmare, the final boss of the quest, is basically a glorified fear demon you can later face as an uncommon enemy near Fade rifts. He will mainly cast a damaging debuff, summon Fearlings for you to fight, cast a barrier on himself from time to time and warp around the battlefield using Fade Steps. Near the end of the fight he'll also summon two terror demons.
Unlike the earlier decision of helping either the mages or the templars, your decision regarding the Grey Wardens doesn't have such a huge impact on the following events of the game and only serves to gain or lose approval with your companions accordingly
