Don't worry, the Splatfest video will be up, which I've scheduled for Monday because I want to get the complete story, from Deet Cut introducing it to Li'l Judd submitting the results. For now, I just have this to show, because I only found out the beta went live on the Switch over the course of this week, and I decided to give it a try. If you're confused as to what's going on, or you feel like you didn't start from the beginning, here is the previous day's video, which has the tutorial. Match #2
Stage: Highland River
Raider: Cell
Maybe it would all become clearer to me if I played more, or if I played the full game (I have no plans on picking up Draogn Ball: The Breakers), but I was...really, really having trouble finding the Super Time Machine keys. Or perhaps that's the point, which is to allow time for the Raider to level up and cause trouble. While survivors get Dragon Change, they cannot harm Raiders at a level above them, and it feels like Dragon Change energy is so sparing that the Raider will remain a level or two ahead of you. Hence, most of this match consisted of me running around more or less aimlessly, trying not to get Cell's notice (but I got REALLY close a few times, until it was too late).

In addition, there's a mechanic where if you're knocked out twice, the Raider can then eliminate you (in Cell's case, absorbing your character through his tail). This is presumably so encountering the Raider doesn't end your game immediately, but nothing prevents the Raider from just lingering in the area, waiting for you to come to, then knocking you out again. You see, you get a defibrillator (presumably a high-tech one from Capsule Corporation that can repair more than just stopped hearts) that you can use to revive fallen survivors. I want to go revive them, but I always see the red Raider icon hovering over them until it's too late to save them.

(For the record, the reason why this is labeled as Match #2 and not #1 is because the first one was in that video with the tutorial. I actually wanted to use then name "Puppycorn," but the game found something objectionable in it. Not sure what.)

Match #3
Stage: Green Coast
Raider: Frieza
For this one, you can see I spent a large amount of time in Area D looking for that key, but to no avail. Does anybody have any advice on what to even look for? I thought I searched the whole place, but apparently not. In spite of the tutorial explaining a bunch of things, there are a few others they didn't explain, like how I passed by the Dragon Altar, used to summon Shenron once the Dragon Balls are collected, without even recognizing what it was. At the very least though, the other survivors did a good job, finding all of the Super TIme Machine keys and moving to the startup sequence. One player even wished to become Vegeta so they could fight Frieza and distract him for long enough for the others to charge up the startup machine. The thing is, at least one of the other players decided they'll fight Frieza too despite not having the strength to do so, when the idea is that as many survivors should be working on the startup as possible to decrease the charge time--which you can see is quite long and gradual when only one person is at it.

All in all, maybe it's because I don't fully grasp the mechanics yet, but it feels like the Raiders have an overwhelming advantage over the survivors. If this were official Dragon Ball material, that would be exactly how the balance of power would be, but not once was the Super Time Machine ever fully started up, and only every now and then did the Emergency Time Machine work. Much of the time, the Raider hunted down every survivor and defeated them. I have never played as a Raider myself, though I do presume their difficulty curve is much lower than those of survivors, since all they really need to do is move around and attack. Like, I got a grappling hook, the ability to play dead (which I got from Yamcha, as another application of that meme where he lies dead in a crater), and some others, but I always forget about them in the heat of the moment. But the biggest things I want to know about are how to increase my Dragon Change and how to find the Super Time Machine's keys more, because all those fancy tricks won't do much good if you have no defense against the Raider and you don't know how to approach accomplishing your goal.
