Dragon Quest Games aren't Grindy
Grinding is a part of dragon quest games. In the same sense that casinos are a part of the games. But do we ever hear people complain about casinos being a mandatory and overshadowing part of the games? Ok, sometimes we do, but not as often as we do with grinding:
Why is that?
I tried a more adhd style of editing, which I don't usually like. I like being concise, so transitions with no deeper meaning don't do much for me. But this video was in part about expanding your horizons, so I tried to do so myself, y'know combine form and function. And I do think that my disdain comes from an irrational place. I associate fancy transitions with shallow content, the stuff that you watch without gaining a new perspective, the stuff that only confirms what you already know, maybe gives you some nostalgia -and while I try to distance myself from that as much as possible, that's only a necessity in function, not in form.(That being said, I've seen a trend where nostalgia pandering does well, so I might make videos that lure people in with that, but then still go and bring something new to the table.) I can't preach about how dq could appeal to a broader audience while making videos exclusively pandering to people who already played. And if I do want to pander to people who already know the games, then I at least want to give them a new perspective like with the dq7 vids. Even if not bringing anything to the table would be easier and more profitable...

Fun fact: The video corrupted 80% in and I had to redo large chunks. I got a really unhealthy mentality when it comes to quitting and that's probably the only reason I'm still doing yt at this point
