Previously, Heorot, the Village Lad, and Carver, the Roaming Warrior, got drafted by Somnia's King Somnus to go search for Ra's Mirror, a familiar recurring item in the Dragon Quest series. To my recollection, so far, it has appeared in II, III, V, and X. (One may also consider the Sun Mirror in VIII.) The party has traveled past the checkpoint northeast of Somnia and arrived at the Forest Chapel for some R&R.

There is a suspicious-looking clearing south from the Forest Chapel (time 1:57). However, a search turns up nothing. What gives?

Southwest from the chapel, the party will find a house out in the middle of nowhere (time 2:27). This place is the Woodcutter's Cottage.

Inside the house, the chest of drawers in the southeast room contains a Hardwood Headwear (time 2:56). Hey, something for Carver!

The pot in the northeast contains an Antidotal Herb (time 3:21).

Then, the party chats with the cottage's irascible inhabitant (time 3:34). Oddly enough, they should first answer No, they don't know what 'private property' means. Then, they should answerthe other questions Yes. This starts an interesting scene where Carver demonstrates some serious woodworking skills. He would be a good person to have in DQ Builders!

After the instant construction, the party must go into the new shed and talk to the dwarf (time 8:51). Turns out they've been a bit bamboozled. However, the dwarf will tell them about Dharma Temple, er, Alltrades Abbey. Well, that could be interesting! He tells them to look for a clearing surrounded by trees to the east.

To the east, they examine the clearing (time 11:47). Hey, he has found the entrance to a secret passageway! It is now time to explore the Underwater Tunnel.

Just after the party enters, Carver, the Roaming Warrior, reaches Level 6 (time 13:01).

At the first southward passage, the party can go south to find a chest with a Bronze Shield (time 13:34). What ho, a new shield for Heorot! And his Bronze Shield can go down to Carver.

Then, the party can go straight east and down the stairs to B2 (time 14:50).

While the party is on B2, Heorot, the Village Lad, reaches Level 9 (time 15:11).

To the south, the party ascends the stairs to the other part of B1 (time 15:46).

Upon reaching the boulder, they can turn north to find a treasure chest containing 270 gold (time 16:49).

While the party is here, Carver reaches Level 7 (time 17:24). You go, Carver!

At the eastern end, they reach the stairway leading up and out (time 18:23).

They are now on the landmass east of Somnia. By the way, I notice that the map of this world is a bit circular.

To the southeast, the party finds ... not Dharma Temple, er, Alltrades Abbey, but another strange hole in the earth (time 21:35)! What in the Goddess's name is going on around here? And there is some terra firma below, as at the hole near Haggleton.

The party drops down the hole (time 22:34). They arrive at the ruins of a building. Again, the party members are a bit translucent ... oh, but not Peggy Sue! Is that a game development oversight, or does that mean something?

This area is Alltrades Abbey, but it looks like a number has been done on it. If they choose, the party can frighten off a thug lurking around the place. Heh!

Downstairs, the party can go into the well to return to the same dimension they came from (time 24:19). Carver will have some suitably incredulous dialogue in party chat.

However, the party doesn't need to be up here, so they return to the lower dimension by dropping into the hole again (time 24:56).

Anyway, from the ruined abbey, there is nowhere to go but southwest. Among the enemies in this area are Goblin Pixies, irritating enemies that can cast Crack for a good amount of damage. Fortunately, they only have enough MP for one cast of it, and their physicals are very weak.

While the party is in this region, Carver reaches Level 8 (time 26:40). He's on fire!

There is a town, but farther south, they can find a strange house (time 27:10). This place is Madame Luca's, but there is really no reason to be here. Note that the well is protected by a monster, the Well Wisher.

Anyway, the party heads into the seaside town, Port Haven (time 28:25). The name is only slightly less redundant than Fantasy Life's Port Puerto. The duo will get to exploring this town in the next episode.

Thanks for watching!
