Previously, the party explored the Black Citadel. They gathered all the treasures and unlocked a couple of shortcuts. Now, they will go to the end and face the boss.

After resuming, the party does some alchemy (time 1:24). They make a Metal King Shield (Ruinous Shield + Saint's Ashes + Orichalcum). Davilas equips this shield fit for a hero. The party found the Ruinous Shield on the sky-accessible plateau on the Northwest Isle. With Red's help, they will be able to farm for more Ruinous Shields from a monster in the postgame.

Next, the party Zooms to Orkutsk (time 2:36).

At Orkutsk's daytime armour shop, they pick up three Iron Headgears (time 3:15). They equip one on Yangus.

Then, the party does a little more alchemy (time 3:46). First, they make one Dark Robe (Cloak of Evasion + Devil's Tail + Wing of Bat). They found another Dark Robe in the Black Citadel. Then, they make two Phantom Masks (Iron Headgear + Dark Robe). Phantom Masks increase evasion. The party equips the Phantom Masks on Angelo and Morrie.

Outside town, they take off with the Godbird's Soulstone (time 5:41).

They land at the Black Citadel again (time 6:05).

Using the shortcut stairways, they make their way north, then northwest. In the north-central building, they enter Level 5 of the main keep (time 11:23). Strangely, there are no treasures in here.

They can go down either the western or eastern flight of stairs to Level 4 (time 12:10).

In the south, they go downstairs to Level 3 (time 12:26). The western stairway leads to a dead end.

The party takes the eastern stairway down to Level 2 (time 14:36).

Then, they descend the northern stairway to Level 1 (time 16:13).

In the south, the party goes downstairs to the City of the Damned (time 16:29).

North of the stairway, the party finds a plaque (time 17:35). The inscription is not pleasant, but the party does get their HP and MP replenished. Note the nearby statues of the party.

The party begins going around the circular road in a clockwise fashion. Counterclockwise may work, too. The key is not to double back.

After the party completes one lap, the city begins to change (time 18:40). The stairway leading up goes away. When they reach the northern portion, monsters and poison pools start to appear, and the city looks worse. There are a few new enemies here.

Things have certainly changed when they complete their second lap (time 21:42). The healing plaque is gone. When they reach the northern section, the illusion of the city is gone, replaced by rows and rows of prison bars.

When the party completes the third lap, a path to a stairway in the center of the area appears in the south (time 23:41).

The party descends the stairway (time 24:09). The path leads straight north through a huge double door.

The party approaches Rhapthorne hovering above his throne (time 25:48). Oh, what an adorable chibi demon!

After the scene, it is time to battle Rhapthorne at last (time 27:45). In spite of his appearance, the demon firefly can be brutal if you are unprepared. Par for the course, he gets two attacks per round. He can employ Disruptive Wave, cold breath, Kafrizzle, Kaboom, and other powerful attacks. He can also emit a flash of light to Dazzle the party. When his eyes gleam eerily, he has a high probability of putting one party member to sleep. His physical attacks get frequent criticals.

Good healing is mandatory for this battle, so be sure to have Angelo along. The protagonist with Omniheal is also very helpful in a pinch. So are Sage's Stones, which can be given to anyone. Wake up sleeping party members right away with Tingle. Jessica's Magic Barrier and Insulatle will help mitigate Rhapthorne's magic and breath damage. The physical attackers should use their best skills, augmented if possible by Oomph or tension. The Timbrel of Tension is quite useful. Since Rhapthorne has Disruptive Wave, though, the party should not go wild with buffs. Equipment with good spell and breath resistance is also helpful.

In the end, the party defeats chibi Rhapthorne (time 39:33).

A scene takes place following Rhapthorne's defeat (time 39:47). The party is fully healed.

Next time, the party will escape the Black Citadel.

Thanks for watching!
