So my mom got me an instrument called a "quena" quite a few years ago. I never learned to play it and never really tried before. The quena is a flute-like instrument; it has holes to produce different tones and you blow into it the same sort of way, except the instrument rests on the outside of your mouth instead of inside.
While cleaning out my rooms, I found my quena in a drawer and I decided it would be a fun idea to try and learn how to play it. I search a quick tutorial and I found Nayo Ulloa's video for it and decided I would record my attempt at learning to play the quena.
Nayo Ulloa was very helpful. Yes, I was being a bit of a goof with this video, but I was just trying to have fun. The hardest part about playing the quena is finding the right position to place the instrument in order to produce a proper tone instead of just air. It definitely takes a bit of doing, but I did figure out where it needs to be for myself.
By no means am I good at playing the quena. I don't even know what the notes sound like to produce a song that's in tune! It's a challenge to try moving the fingers on the holes while blowing and not moving the instrument out of place. The quena is a very picky instrument; everything needs to be under the right conditions for it work nicely.
