DragonLance 'A Table for One, at the Inn of The Last Home)
A short segment talking about stat and level advancement and how it is handled in the AD&D2e game. Your base stats usually only decrease or increase with a magic item or spell; only exceptions are a Wish spell (some consider to be irrelevant and NOT an option for PCs under any circumstances you aren't getting wishes handed out like lucky charms at the corner store.) True advancement only serves for Combat and Thac0 as each characters Thaco is what determines their ability to hit and it advances due to class and level; your base stats see no use IN combat outside of saving throws based on that ability score. Age and Time will generally affect both Strength and Constitution, with character gaining Wisdom and Intelligence scores, or is it possible due to certain parameters to lose those faculties as you age? What would Tasslehoff Burrfoots stats be as he aged? What about the other characters? Do you as a DM allow a sort of 'training or skill point perk' say a character is Fat and trains and loses weight, he loses in strength but gains in dexterity and constitution? How would you handle Progression inside the AD&D game? Leave a comment. Also who would like to develop a solo oracle to use with DragonLance modules to help new Dms learn the game and write new adventures and play test old ones.
