DrDisrespect, Shroud, and Ninja have ALL returned and the numbers are in!
It's been a crazy past year for the streaming industry, with the streamer wars currently coming to a new era. One year ago many twitch streamers were being signed to other platforms once their contracts with twitch had expired. @Ninja being the first to set this trend, moved to Mixer for a reported $30,000,000! Shroud for $10,000,000, and many others for far less. This was an amazing time to be a popular streamer and I doubt we will see anything like it again anytime soon, with how much money was spent on streamer exclusives.
On July 8th after just under a month of no streaming, Ninja went live on youtube peaking around 160k concurrent viewers. Many people were very excited and all of streamer twitter was buzzing. At the time it was reported that Ninja was streaming under no official contract, and was free to stream anywhere he pleased. Fast forward to August 4th, and the lack of contract is proven when Ninja went live on twitch. Ninja did hold around 100,000 viewers, which was a little shy from his youtube stream in the previous month. I find this particularly curious as twitch is the largest streaming platform in the world currently. Perhaps it has something to do with his videos still getting millions of views while he was contracted to mixer?
August 8th, @DrDisRespect makes his official return to livestreaming, pulling a massive 500k viewers, averaging somewhere around 300k. One may argue that this is due to the massive controversy surrounding his twitch ban, which very well may be true, however the doc has been holding 200k+ viewers each stream since. Needless to say, it's absolutely incredible the amount of viewer power the doc is currently bringing. It's important to note here, that Doc is also not signed exclusively to any platform!
August 12th @shroud goes live on twitch, smashing expectations and peaking at 516,000 viewers, averaging around 220,000. These numbers being surprisingly close to the doc over there on the ol' youtube. It's comical to think about how polar opposite these streamers are from one another. Shroud has the absolute most minimum production value put into his stream compared to doc, and has a calm chillness compared to the docs louder cockyness. It's a shame the two cannot stream with one another anymore due to twitch policy, but at least we get to enjoy the messages they send to each other through their content.
Doc being doc, decided to go live at the same time as shroud, and held an average of 100k+ viewers, about half of what shroud averaged today. All these numbers are so very interesting and I feel they tell us a lot more than I am able to describe into words for you. One thing is for certain, these guys are absolute streaming powerhouses and no matter if its on twitch, or youtube, they dominate their respective platforms.
It's still too soon to say where all these streamers will average once they all get back to their daily grind, but so far its looking nothing but up! And with that, I leave you with this very hilarious observation from Doc about the... appearance Shroud decided on today.
