Whenever try to open a USB external hard drive and get the error message: "Location is not available" d:\ is not accessible The file or directory is corrupted and unreadable. The disk structure is corrupted and unreadable. Drive is not accessible.

Method 2:
i)Run Command prompt (cmd) as administrator
ii)Type this command "chkdsk /f E:" Note: you should avoid quote sign and remember E: is a drive letter. It may be different in your case.
iii) Now Press Enter.

Usually, when your external hard drive shows "Drive is not accessible. Access is denied" error message because you don't have the privilege of accessing to the disk. So, to fix the issue, you have to take ownership to get the permit in Windows Explorer. ... Right-click on the inaccessible hard drive, select Properties.
