I'd been itching to play DRIVECLUB since before I even had my Playstation 4. As we all know the game wasn't released at launch as planned and in fact came an entire year later with Sony and Evolution Studios "going back to the drawing board". When it finally released this past fall Playstation Plus users were promised a free slice of the game that included tracks from India and a number of cars to play with. Unfortunately server and coding issues prevented that from happening as the servers buckled within hours of its launch and caused the multi-player section of DRIVECLUB completely unplayable for weeks. To this day there is still no PS+ version and no scheduled release date and with it popping up in the news again about a PS+ version release date that leaves gamers with one question in regards to DRIVECLUB...Is It Worth It? Is it FINALLY Worth It? Well Lets get down to it and find out.

1. Look & Feel

You haven't seen any game footage from DRIVECLUB check out the video on this page! The game looks absolutely gorgeous. Hands down this is a beautiful racer. The tracks look great, the cars look and sound awesome and the weather effects, holy shit the weather effects. Evolution Studios did everything right with the weather and its beautiful and treacherous at the same time. Just try racing in the middle of the night through the middle of a snow or rainstorm, scarily breath-taking.

As far as the feel the cars feel good. DRIVECLUB falls between racing sims, like the Gran Turismo series, and an arcade racer such as Need for Speed Rivals. The racing is a lot more technical and unforgiving than you would expect from an arcade racer but without the tuning and fine tweaking available it's much more accessible to the masses who enjoy a good racing game but don't have the time or knowledge to properly tune a video game car for racing.

2. Story

There is no story in DRIVECLUB. You race and unlock cars. There is no voice over, no back story pulling you in a different direction. This is just for racing, which is fine. I don't need a story to race, just a car and a stretch of road.

3. Amount of Content

With 50 tracks, 55 cars, 5 locations, and 50 tour events the base game has plenty of content especially considering that now you can get it for less than $59.99. Evolution Studios also gave away the Ignition and Photo Finish Expansion Packs for free to owners of the game as an apology for the launch issues giving gamers tons of content!

There are also four DLC packs currently available with four more scheduled to be released this year. That's a shit ton of cars, tracks, and extra tour events which includes extra trophies for you trophy hunters!

4. Replay-ability

Since this is a racer there really is a ton of replay-ability. From the single player tour events and earning stars, player & club challenges, custom events, and intense multi-player that finally works really well you can put hours and hours into this game...and that just might be on one track to get that perfect time! With so many cars and track variations you could spend months just perfecting them. Multi-player is constantly changing as well with different events available about every 30 seconds.

So, after all the screaming and yelling with server issues, and no PS+ Edition out yet should you slap down your hard earned (or begged for) cash for this title? DRIVECLUB is a beautiful racer that feels solid. There is plenty to do within the base game and even more through DLC content. If you are looking for a fun racing game then you can hardly go wrong here!
