It's official, I have a DS phat Capture device. It's not like the ones you've seen a few years back by a few Youtubers. This one has a DS Capture exe application that enables me to record the footage directly (like an emulator) or use a screen recording applcation and record it that way (like using Fraps on a PC game. I can do the latter method (screen recording) with Xsplit but I don't think the quality is good enough as a raw for SDA. The problem with the direct record feature on the application on my new PC is that it either drop frames and/or has an audio desynch, I'll carry on and find out which lossless codec work the best.
