Dungeonmans is a kinda obscure turn-based roguelike that came out in 2014, with static character and monster sprites but animated particle effects for attacks and spells, and a cheeky, self-aware sense of humor sort of like Dungeons of Dredmor. Andrew Aversa wrote the game's music, with compositions heavily inspired by Hitoshi Sakimoto's works like Final Fantasy Tactics and FF12. He even used the Roland SC-88 sound module to give the songs that late-90s/early-2000s feel.
