7Before you play Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance Re-Release You Must Watch This Video. It could save you hours of frustration and possibly even starting over the game because you can't finish it.
In this video, I explain how the character system works in Baldur's Gate Dark Alliance 2021. Yes, the game is exactly 20 years old and it looks fantastic on XBOX ONE X where I captured the game play. It's the XBOX ONE X ( I still can't find an XBOX SERIES X to purchase they are still either sold out or only available thru scalpers ).
The first thing the game asks you is what difficulty you want to start the game as.
I chose Normal and was unable to finish the first major boss fight.
After eliminating all of the enemies in the dungeon there is no way to level up and there is a boss fight that is impossible to complete without better gear and higher level.
20 years ago, games were all about developing characters and you would play thru on easy and then play again on medium difficulty. Today, we expect to be able to change the difficulty mid-game.
Unfortunately, there is no possible way to change the difficulty one you set it. We love the challenge of the game and while we found it to be somewhat hard, it was a lot of fun until we got to the 'ORB' about 3 hours into the game.
Having characters that are level 3, its virtually impossible (we tried at least 20x) to finish the ORB and were unable to. We found other videos on Youtube and they either had leveled up their character or were playing it on easy difficulty.
I made this video to save you hours of pain.
Trust me, play the game on easy difficulty FIRST time thru and level up your character . THEN start it on Normal or Hard.
I wish the developer had made it possible to change difficulty mid-game, like you can in any Assassins Creed Game, Mass Effect, Call of Duty, Diablo - but this title does not allow you to change your difficulty.
The boss fight on the orb is impossible on a normal play through with 2 players that have eliminated all the enemies in the dungeon. There simply is nothing else to do except START OVER!
Please patch this so that people can change difficulty mid-game!
I like playing on normal difficulty because it is challenging, but can't progress with the story and will have to start over.
The good news is that I can import my character into a new game at easy difficulty and literally plow thru the dungeon in lightning speed.
