Based on the cartoon series which was itself based on the roleplaying game.

The music used is 'Morlocks Attack' by Klaus Badlet from the soundtrack to The Time Machine.

Dungeons and Dragons is too important and venerable a license to be forever tied to a very subpar film. In 1983 there was a fairly popular cartoon show based on the game which featured an interesting story idea: five friends are whisked away to the world of dungeons and dragons (after riding a magical rollercoaster) and given roles and weapons by The Dungeon Master himself. However the original series was made for kids, and since then D&D has found a broader market. I think it would be more interesting if the kids of the film were older, and if their alter egos were adults. This could lead to an interesting tale true to the roleplaying game as younger 'players' assume the roles of larger then life heroes, matched against a sinister evil. The 'Dungeons and Dragons' movie made the mistake of setting the story completely in a lite version of the D&D world. The problem is D&D isn't just about the story, it's about the characters and roleplaying. By making the characters be people from modern times thrust into a grand adventure the story would not only delve into the history, sites, and monsters of the D&D world, but also provide the other side of the coin, the deliberations, alliances, and choices characters must make to succeed or fail in the game.
