Something pretty interesting about Sentry Bot that I discovered accidentally 2 weeks ago, mostly tested personally in Weekly Challenge outposts and some recent Daily Challenges.
In summary, you can activate Sentry's 'Room Target' mode (for the lack of better term?) where it'll remember the room it's targeted to go to in a short time period post-room inspection - must be adjacent to the room it's in at that moment - even to the point of being able to quick-find alternative routes as long as the doors are leading to said targeted room.

4:55 - 1st Demonstration
*5:28 - Figured how sentry's 'Room Target' mode has a time limit until it forgets its supposed go-to room.
*Successful attempts at 6:27-6:56, 7:04-7:23, 7:33-7:51
7:54 - 2nd Demonstration
*One successful attempt at 8:16-8:57, ain't letting you getting John, of course.
11:07 - 3rd Demonstration
*First successful attempt at 11:48-12:48, tailed the sentry and made a temporary disruption at 12:30. Didn't budge to its target... maybe would have different outcome when it starts to shoot the drone.
*Sentry blocked d42 at 13:28, forcing me to abandon the test until it's returned somewhere else.
*Skipped some parts before 14:05 due to player error, but successful attempt to make a quick alternative alternative route for the sentry to go to that targeted room until 14:50.
*Some failed attempts to get the sentry to r5 alternative route at 15:41-15-55 (blocked d39),15:56-16:27 (forgot to open d42, mistook sentry having 'pathfinding buffer'), and 16:35-17:19 (forgot to open d10 I wasn't kidding).
*FINALLY getting a successful attempt at 17:27-18:08. Tailed the sentry.
