Just like with the wall climb trick that Jman found, you can also just gain height without a wall by doing two airslashes followed by a dust storm (turning around with the start of the air attacks seems to help), and pretty much gain infinite height anywhere once you get aerial dust storm. The other method I showed is just an alternate way of doing this. You can do the rising swings/DS to skip all the other parts where you need the Boost Jump as well. You can also use this to fly right over enemies and skip a lot of barriers in general (it seems when you're high above the enemies they recognize you as being far away enough from any enemies to let you through).
