1A zombie apocalypse-themed open world is included in the action role-playing survival horror video game Dying Light 2. The majority of battles in the game are combat-based and include melee weapons. The player's melee weapons have a finite shelf life and will deteriorate as they are used in battle. The setting of the game is the vast urban open world of Villedor, which players are free to explore. All of the residents of Harran perished during the 2014 zombie outbreak, and there were no known survivors. The threat of the zombie pandemic is eliminated when the Global Relief Effort (GRE) is able to create a vaccine for the Harran Virus. The GRE persisted in secretly testing the virus for military uses despite promising to stop all research on it.
