About 45 minutes preparation beforehand, making certain to have the required buildings. Also upgrading to using Mk II Sorters.

Like the Blue science (last episode), this Red science produces 3 cubes a second.

Overall, this Zen series has gone from start to Red science in under 4 hours.

I dislike dealing with excess hydrogen and refined oil. Constantly building storage to hold excess is an infinite sink - one or the other is always running out. This is incompatible with a Zen-like relaxing playthrough.

The design for this is taken from Relyen Gaming, slightly modified (adding more splitters, in case the belt behavior is altered in future releases). The combination of two oil refining produces 2 graphite and 6 hydrogen a second, with some of the hydrogen recirculated to help the cycling process.

I'm not certain why one side seems to produce excess hydrogen early in the piece, and the other side has trouble starting. That's why I ended up manually kickstarting the two end refineries on the difficult side. Only after that did I connect the coal - if connected too early the system gets filled up with excess graphite and has issues. When attached later the graphite will top up the belt to 6 graphite per second, prioritizing the refinery output.

And yes, it does shut down and restart gracefully when tech research stops and starts. I tested that specially.

I'm going to Zen out now, spend some time to enjoy the eye-candy and clear all the vegetation and big stones. Probably take another 2-3 hours. The eye-candy is the best bit though.

I think it's time to build the mall, too. It's now worth the effort.
