For a lot of people, E3 2013 was very memorable. That year both the Xbox One and PS4 were center pieces for either sides presentation. Microsoft had recently revealed their plans for policies that were viewed as heavily anti consumer such as a restriction on used games and the need to check in daily with an internet connection. These policies left the door open for Sony to completely dominate that E3.
