ABOUT EARLY ACCESS MONITOR SERIES:

Early Access Monitor series is my opportunity to look at some titles that have been on the market for a while now in form of Early Access and try to figure out how their reception have change overtime. We won’t focus only on negatives in here sometimes game that had a very rough start got developers to pull together and start actually working on the product if that is case we want to point out to this and commend team for doing the job right.

Sadly there are many more cases where Early Access reviews start positive and development fails we want to focus on those as well and analyse reason behind it, find developers who genuinely overshoot their target and dreamt to big and developers who were right down scammers and abused the trust gamers placed on them.

I am hoping that this series will remain as objective as possible during it I will not only talk about my opinions but also analyse mood of a core audience, observe steam discussion and developers responses. I hope we can together be force of change for a better and help shape Early Access into the amazing tool it has potential to be.

Finally I really do believe in Early Access model without it many amazing games like Minecraft, Kerbal Space Program or Prison Architect would never be made but I do believe that there needs to be closer monitoring of a system to prevent abusing it.

ABOUT MEDIEVAL ENGINEERS:

Medieval Engineers is a sandbox game about engineering, construction and the maintenance of architectural works and mechanical equipment using medieval technology. Players build castles; construct mechanical devices and underground mining. There is an entire planet to explore!

The game is inspired by real medieval technology and the way people built architectural works and mechanical equipment using medieval technology. Medieval Engineers strives to follow the laws of physics and history and doesn't use any technologies that were not available in the 5th to 15th centuries.

Medieval Engineers concentrates on construction aspects, but can be played as an action game too. We expect players to avoid engaging in direct man-to-man combat and instead use their creativity and engineering skills to build war machines and fortifications. Medieval Engineers shouldn’t be about troops; it should be about the machinery you build.

Medieval Engineers is the second “engineering” game developed by Keen Software House. The first one is Space Engineers, which sold over 2 million copies in its first year and is still a bestseller.
