Early Access Pre-Release Gameplay - In Death: Unchained on Oculus Quest
This is an early access pre release look at some gameplay form upcoming Oculus Quest game In Death: Unchained.
In Death: Unchained is a rogue-lite experience that focuses on bow and arrow (and later crossbow) combat as you rain down arrows against the forsaken souls, angelic creatures and demons that have taken over the afterlife as you battle through the procedurally generated levels of Heaven, Purgatory and Hell.
There is no commentary here just gameplay to give you an idea of what to expect the game to be like. That being said there is more content and some differences with the full game at launch, as per the notes below.
Notes from developers:
This early access build covers the brand-new content created, which essentially grows the original game by about 50% and is focused on the hell inspired world “The Abyss”. In the final game reaching the Abyss requires a bit of time and skill so this lets you bypass that.
Changes in Preview vs Full Game
There are some minor tweaks in the preview build to give you a better chance of surviving
- In the Sanctuary you can pick either the bow or crossbow right away (the final game the crossbow is unlocked later through a specific achievement)
- At the start of game there are a selection of special arrows to choose from (in the final game you will only enter the next level with what you found along the way)
- Your HP has been slightly increased here
What is Not in the Preview Build
- The entire Purgatory and Paradise Lost worlds + content i.e. worlds 1 and 2.
- Pits. These extra difficult “side areas” are unlocked in the full game via certain achievements
- The Abyss boss fight. Just like in the Purgatory and Paradise Lost worlds, each run ends with a frantic boss fight. You’ll get your chance to fight this bastard in the full game.
