All textures used are from NASA, with the exception of the Sun. (It's just a white circle with bloom)
Technical details: The perspective is from an orbit slightly higher than that of the Moon, but at half the angular velocity. Each pass in front of the Sun represents 59.06 days, the Moon comes to it's closest and furthest approach every lunar cycle which is every 29.53 days. In this animation when the Moon is at it's closest to us, the Sun is behind us, hence the illuminated "dark side" of the Moon. The scale between the Moon and the Earth are accurate, the orbits are more or less correct. I fixed the Moon on a orbit around it's perigee but didn't give it any eccentricity. Since the Moon's inclination varies, it's set to 18.5° relative to the Equator in this animation. The Sun is probably not the right size since I had to resort to a texture because of engine limitations, it would have been impractical to use a 3D model for it as well because of the scale of the solar system. For example, the Earth is 1.69 units in diameter in this animation but the Sun would have been about 50 millions units away from the Earth if it were to be to scale. For comparison the Moon is about 48 units away from Earth. This was made using Blender 2.92 in Eevee @ 64 samples. I might improve on the details in the future using proper orbital mechanics, but I can't guarantee I will.

The song is titled Song of Earth and is from unknown origins.
