This fight is very very weird, because, being level 155 I had a very easy time during the first phase of this fight against the Beast Clergyman.
The problem occurs once phase 2 kicks in because the clergyman will transform into this weird Pokémon and use his blade to destroy you in seconds.
This fight is easy, it is just a matter of resistance, patience, and strategy. I defeated this being level 169, using a damage negation build that was the following:
My main weapon is a fully maxed partisan with spectral lance ash of war to do some damage on the distance, especially on the second phase of this boss.
For the gear, I am wearing the Malformed Dragon Set and Dragonclaw Shield, the pieces of the set dropped from the Draconic Tree Sentinel before you fought Malekith, and the shield from the one before you entered Leyndell Royal Capital.
All of this together gives a great damage negation against the dragon's Lightning attacks, along with the Boltdrake Talisman +1 and the Opaline Hardtear. The rest of the talisman spots are pretty flexible so use whatever suits your build best.
But the real MVP of this build is the Latenna the Albiraunic Spirit fully maxed at +10. She is a real Dragon assassin.
The strategy is simple, summon Latenna before entering the fight so she can attack from the distance.
Keep attacking the boss up close so all the attention is focused on you instead of Latenna and, because this dragon is so damn big, she never misses a shot.
Don't be greedy when attacking and pay attention to its thunder and fire attacks so you can evade or block them.
After you get near the half of the bar you will enter phase 2 and here is where Latenna shines because this dragon gets on crazy mode, flying around, disappearing, and reappearing all over the arena, so Latenna's constant damage is what will help you make progress here.
Watch out for all of the thunder claw attacks, the dragon can do this while flying and on the ground, so when you see a red glow, prepare to evade it. If you're having a hard time getting close or the dragon begins attacking Latenna, attack from the distance to regain its attention.
The only attack that I think can ruin most runs is this crazy dual beam, so rely on your shield and cure as much as you need, but that's basically it. Just be very patient, keep it safe when you're on the lower tier of the health bar and this guy will be done in no time.
Be sure to check out more Elden Ring videos that I'll be uploading to this playlist right here as I progress through the game, but for now, I hope this was useful, thank you for watching, and keep enjoying the game.
