Ecstatica is a "survival horror"-esque third person adventure game published by Psygnosis in 1994 for PC. It's a 3D game, though because polygonal 3D was so resource-intensive in 1994 Ecstatica makes use of what is referred to as "Ellipsoid Technology"... essentially meaning everything is made of spheres instead of polygons. It's easier on the CPU sure, but it comes with a rather hilarious cost of character design.
In Ecstatica your character arrives at the town of the same name and becomes trapped when the bridge leading to it collapses. Everyone in the town is dead and there are rumors of an evil witch somewhere in the catacombs. It's up to you to solve the mystery of Ecstatica, meanwhile everyone's got a butt that Sir Mix-A-Lot would drool over thanks to the "Ellipsoid Technology".
It's a hard game to take seriously since it approaches the horror/mystery element with a straight face, but you know what this game has some charm. Buckle in, because we're getting to the -- ahem -- BOTTOM of this mystery.
