EDHM v1.5: Clean canopy window, but maintains ice effect
EDHM v1.5 is in the final stage of beta testing. Hopefully the final release will be this weekend (March 13/14 2021)
At the start of the video the main shader responsible for dirty streaks on the canopy glass has been deactivated. You'll notice at about 15% temperature a secondary shader kicks in that replaces the first shader, and adds the streaks back on the canopy
At about 0:50 I turn off the streaks inside the secondary shader, leaving nice clear glass but maintaining the ice effect. It took about 3 hours because the secondary shader is quite complicated and 3Dmigoto doesn't capture it correctly, and requires custom code. But I think it looks much better without the streaks. I don't usually fly the Vulture, and I didn't realise the canopy was so dirty!
In your version you won't have to manually turn off the dirt like in the video, it's a setting in Startup-Profile.ini
PS. This should work on all ships, but please let me know if there's a situation where the streaks appear again, thanks
PPS. Space is really black because I turned off space fog and use a multi-colour star field with reduced halos. Please see the EDHM thread on the Elite forums if you'd like the same effect .. but it's only good for photos/videos as turning off space fog also removes the nebulae, so I don't keep it off all the time
