Just a quick test on the effectiveness of the magic resistance stat.
There will be math here so for those with allergies you may skip the video and proceed to 2:25.

Here we have Balmond with 33 magic resistance.
Valir does 531 damage.
This will be our base damage.
Next we add 50 magic resistance by buying Cursed Helmet.
Balmond now has 83 magic resistance.
Valir does 400 damage.

We were able to reduce the damage by 25% by adding 50 magic resitance.
Total Cost: 1830

Next we add another Cursed Helmet.
Now Balmond has 133 magic resistance.
Valir does 321 damage.

We now have reduced the base damage by 40% by adding 100 magic resistance.

Let's add another Cursed Helmet for a total of 183 magic resistance.
Valir does 268 damage.

We now have reduced the base damage by 50% by adding 150 magic resistance.

We buy another Cursed Helmet for a total of 233 magic resistance.
Valir does 230 damage.

We now have reduced the base damage by 57% by adding 200 magic resistance.

Last one, we add another Cursed Helmet for a total of 283 magic resistance.
Valir does 201 damage.

We now have reduced the base damage by 63% by adding 250 magic resistance.
Total Cost: 9150

We will do this until we reach 5 Cursed Helmet.
Take a look at the 4th Cursed Helmet.
It costs 1830 gold to remove 7% of magic damage.
It's not so effective compared to the 25% or 20% reduction in the 1st and 2nd Cursed Helmet.
The damage reduction goes down as more magic resistance is added.
Are you willing to spend 1830 gold for that 7% reduction?
While this diminishing effect is common to almost all MOBA games some people still don't know about this.

An exception would be if the enemy lineup is composed of all magic or all physical users.
No use using magic resistance if there is no magic user on the enemy.
