Since this was the 10th vlog (jeez that’s a lot), I wanted to do something big for it. I had moved out of my parents and was having a semi-terrible time thanks to an insane roommate. Janelle thought it would be a good idea to invite her then-best friend to live with us, and lord was she wrong. I don’t resent Janelle for it though, anyone would have assumed/hoped for it to work out. But she was somehow both passive-aggressive and vindictive. To avoid this becoming an essay, it was an insane time in my life. This video very obviously reflects that headspace. I had fun turning shots that seemed otherwise normal into borderline scary moments. The early Gecs stuff is so awesome, it’s a shame they haven’t put out anything on that level since. If you pay close enough attention, you’ll notice the middle section is made up of all the previous vlogs. I’d love to do something similar to this in the future, but I have a scorched-earth policy where I delete all the footage to make room for more once I’m done editing. I remember showing this video to the crazy roommate when I had finished it, and her reaction was so underwhelmed. That should have been the first red flag, ‘cuz this one rocks.
