Elden Ring (Malenia) - Waterfowl Dance (Standard, Close & No-Roll)
Three methods of avoiding Malenia's Waterfowl Dance (I used light load for this, but medium works as well).
The standard method is best when you have a bit of distance, and the close method is best if she Waterfowls on you point blank. I don't use the no-roll method anymore because it doesn't set up the spacing for the third flurry as well as the other two methods, and because it requires more space in general.
For the standard method, you outrun the first flurry, roll the second flurry (I like to roll right), and then walk (not run) towards/under her as soon as you come out of the roll. As she launches the third flurry over you, the camera will rotate, and you'll need to change your input direction so that you don't walk into the last flurry.
For the close method, you need to unlock the camera and run nearly a full circle around her, before doing two consecutive rolls away from her as she launches the first flurry (ideally, you roll in the opposite direction to the one she launches). The main idea is that she struggles to properly track you while you're running around her and launches the first flurry away from you. This takes practise, as you'll need to get used to the timing and learn to avoid the hitbox underneath her (it's quite small, but you can easily run into it and get stuck if you try to circle too close). You then rotate your camera enough to lock back on and dodge the rest of the attack the same way as in the standard method.
For the no-roll method, you outrun the first two flurries and then dodge the third flurry the same way as in the standard and close methods. You do need to make sure, however, that you're not too far away from her when the second flurry finishes, or you can easily get clipped as she launches the third flurry over you.
All three methods can also be done with the camera unlocked. As with everything, it just takes practise to get it into your muscle memory.
