The minimum recommended CPU for Elden ring is an Intel i5 8400, which has 6 physical cores, or a Ryzen 3300X for AMD. The 4690K, with its very old 4 cores, it’s clearly way below the recommendations even for the minimum acceptable, but as we can see in this video, the system runs the game without major issues.
Obviously, it doesn’t reach 60 FPS not even at 1080p, unless going Low Settings, and at certain points only, because the game is pretty much CPU limited all the time at any setting and 1080p.
At higher resolutions, the GTX 1070 can work a bit more, but still we won’t get to 60 FPS, so we have to decide whether to leave the frame-rates “unlimited”, which means anything between 30-50’ish, or just do a 30 or 40 FPS cap, via Rivatuner or any other decent way.
All in all, I think this game still needs a good optimization patch, which hasn’t happened yet, and the small stutters are still happening for most people.
I particularly never experienced big freezes or problems, only minor ones, even on my main PC, but I am quite surprised that the game doesn’t run as terrible as I was expecting on my old system, it’s definitely playable, considering how it is running for most people with way better rigs.
As usual, I hope this can be useful to any of you, and I’ll see you in the next one : )
