Elevator Action Returns (Saturn) 2 Player Very Hard Mode Playthrough
1I am the first player, the woman, Bob Rupples manipulates the second player, the transitioning male to female.
I was playing shitty on this attempt but it was good enough. I had lost my recording after just clearing very hard mode, so had to make two more attempts when already very tired.
With good team coordination 2 players is alot easier than single player. Still took some attempts to beat it.
I got to the end on normal , singleplayer but havent cleared that yet.
Very Hard is definately more agressive than Normal. Aside from more enemies and agression its very similiar. There is not a big difference in difficulty settings on alot of these older games. Sometimes its even more minimal than this.
Its alot harder to beat very hard on singleplayer but with two players its not a big difference.
A basic rundown of the characters you can play as, from my understanding. The female character I chose is the second fastest at regular walking speed, she takes the most damage when hit but has fire grenades that leave a lingering flame that will burn enemies and not harm the player. She also has the farthest jump. This is dangerous because you cannot change direction once you launch into a jump and sometimes can end up falling in a hole or getting crushed by an elevator if not careful. However its useful on one part where I am able to jump a large gap rather than going down several floors and then back up. This is on stage 4 I believe with the final doors , seperated by gaps. The last gap is too long for anyone else to jump.
I use her for that reason and the lingering flame burns shit up and gives you some time to move through an area without shooting constantly. She does take the most damage though so its useful to have a basic understanding of the layouts.
The bald headed character walks slowest but when he runs he can run through and kill enemies. He was too slow for my liking. He also has a different type of grenade but not sure what it does. Also he can take the most damage before dying. The slow speed means you end up getting shot more, unless you run alot, but that is also dangerous and doesnt have the best control. His grenades didnt seem too good either. Rarely used him.
The long haired "male" that Bob Rupples plays as, is the fastest walking character. He has bombs that detonate in both directions, filling most of the screen but with no real lingering effect, like the flame. Youll see how I use the lingering flame on many parts.
Youll notice that I chose not to run very often. That is because it is very finnicky about stopping when you are running. The controls for that are very stiff. I chose to play it safe. Constantly firing and knowing where to position yourself is a big part of this game.
