So here we are, the 2.1 (engineers) beta has begun. This is purely a first impressions vid, so nothing is gone into with any real detail... but we get a look at the new-look bulletin board (now called missions board), outfitting (which I think is fuckin horrible!!) and of course the engineers themselves. We also get to hear the new audio messages from docking station traffic control, which is pretty good but there's no excuse for it only appearing now, 16 years after I first heard such a feature in a PC game of this genre. It is not all good though. A beta that has been delayed for over 2 months should arrive in a better state than this, with a crash to desktop and the game completely stopping while trying to exit SC and enter glide mode while approaching an engineer base... These are things that should NOT be present in a beta that is designed to keep players playing ED. The video ends with an announcement that an update was already en route. While 2.1 shows a lot of potential, it's unforgivable that it should be released in such a state that an update is VITAL just 2 hours after it went live.
