I've been playing Elite for 2 months now. During that time, I've explored a region about 200 light years wide, earning money by trading commodities and selling cartographic data. I recently upgraded to a slightly better ship – the Adder – which I've now equipped with a mining laser and on-board refinery.
This video shows my first attempt at asteroid mining. There's also a brief tour of the galaxy map, giving you an idea of just how utterly vast the gaming environment is (400 billion star systems, with a total of 500,000 human players online). I've barely scratched the surface of this game, there's so much to see and do. I recommend watching in full-screen HD.
