Make sure to remove "Auto-landing". ( Click 4, ship, flight assistance )
Then manually find a "FLAT" ground spot where it's big enough for your ship.

Slowly move to that spot. Use 3rd person camera view to verify your position before landing.

Option - Keybind your 3rd person camera view to easier keyboad buttons to switch faster. ( I keybinded them to my numpad buttons )
