Runewaker, the Taiwanese studio behind Runes of Magic and Dragon's Prophet recently revealed Embergarde, its third MMORPG. Contrary to what many players expected, Embergarde is in fact an isometric hack and slash MMORPG in the same vein of Diablo, or better yet, Lost Ark and Lineage Eternal: Twilight Resistance. The closed beta just began and Rendermax captured some footage. What we were able to see is that the game is in a very early stage, with only half the playable classes and very limited character creation settings. Visually this game is unlikely to be serious competition to the two MMORPGs mentioned above, but there's a kind of old-school vibe that could appeal to many players. However, we're still not sure if the game has enough potential to become a hit.
With the two previous games of the studio having released in western territories, it's highly likely that Embergarde will follow suit, but we'll keep on top of that.
