Hi Galactic Survivalists!
The Alpha 8.0 Experimental version is already shimmering on the horizon - time to update you on our progress again!
1. Solar System Generator
The "SSG" is making good progress. The most recent version now includes a full preview for planets, orbits and the solar system!
For planets and orbits, we not only added indicators of ore deposits/asteroids and POIs, but you can now also see all NPC spawn points as well!
2. Planets
In the past week we made three major improvements:
2.1 New terrain with considerably increased view distance
We still have to decide about the actual view distance from a gameplay perspective. As you can see, the new terrain would allow for a VERY huge view distance)
2.2 Red and green wall removal
We improved the removal of the red and green walls (still needs testing). In the below screenshot, we are in the far north (actually the sun never sets here) beyond the former red wall and we are looking north. Pre-Alpha 8, this area was blocked. If you continue in this direction you will actually cross the north pole.
2.3 The outside view of the planets in the orbit now looks much better
...and also the 3d planet map has better visuals:

SPACE AND PLANET EXPLORATION
An absolute free-roaming experience awaits you: fly across space and land on planets.
SURVIVAL
Survival is key. Try to stay alive in a hostile galaxy. Each planet is different with its own challenges. Food and oxygen are rare – be well prepared.
SPACE AND LAND COMBATS
You will fight a variety of creatures in space and on planets.
BUILDING AND CONSTRUCTION
You can build everything out of blocks and building parts like in Minecraft: large motherships, small spaceships, space and planetary stations, and facilities such as mining robots and solar panels.
SINGLE AND MULTIPLAYER In Empyrion, you can play single player or multiplayer (with or against your friends).
Empyrion features space & planetary exploration, building & construction, mining & resource gathering, survival, crafting, as well as space & land combats. Using the Unity 3D engine, Empyrion uniquely combines elements from space simulations, construction games, survival games and ego-shooters. The game is currently under development by Eleon Game Studios.
Empyrion is about building and survival in a hostile environment. You can build everything out of blocks and building parts like in Minecraft: large starships, small spaceships, space and planetary stations, as well as facilities such as mining robots and solar panels.
Your mobile home base is a self-created starship (your mothership) that is able to fly from planet to planet (and warp between the to-be-introduced multi-solar systems later in development!). To access and explore a planet, you build one or several, small spaceships that can enter the planet’s orbit and land on the planet’s surface. Equip your mothership and spaceships with weapons to defend yourself against other players and NPC enemies.
For building and construction, you must gather and mine resources. You will find these resources on planets and asteroids. Empyrion features several planet types such as desert, ice, lava, barren, oceanic, temperate and gas planets. Each of them is different and has its own characteristics and potentially unforgiving conditions. To survive, you have to adapt to a planet’s unique environment. Initially, you face an uncharted universe with only basic information about the planets, their resources, and (potentially dangerous) life forms. Before your first landing on a planet, you will not know exactly what awaits you – be prepared for any surprise.
