Encountering low oxygen levels (what miners called “bad air”) is one of the risks of exploring flooded abandoned mines. When my oxygen meter activated in this mine, the oxygen level was at 17%. A reading of 15% or lower means it’s time to retreat. Justin from @ABANDONEDUNDERGROUND9 was with me for this exploration and had already passed through the tunnel before me without incident despite his oxygen meter sounding an alarm, too.
