In Vidar you take on the role of the Stranger, a mysterious figure who stumbles into the town of Vidar. You see, the Stranger is important because he's the only one that has managed to get into Vidar after all ways out of town have been blocked off. After your wounds have been tended to, you find out that every night, "the Beast" takes the life of one of the villagers. Can you help people of Vidar fend off this beast or will everyone succumb to its clutches... including yourself?
Vidar is an indie JRPG released in June of 2017. After being in early access for a while, it is finally available in the Steam store. The game was developed by Razbury Games.
Vidar was made in RPG Maker. What makes this RPG Maker game special is that it tries to innovate by removing all battles and making a randomly generated story unfold with you. You see, every playthrough of Vidar is different as villagers will be taken by the Beast in different combinations. It's up to you to help the villagers and solve the mystery before you too succumb to its wrath!
