During the 2008 NHL entry draft, the Ottawa Senators made a trade with the Nashville Predators. Ottawa moved up from pick 18 to pick 15, in exchange for a future 3rd round pick. They wanted Swedish defenseman Erik Karlsson, and they made sure that they would get him.
