[Escape] #86 - Rec Room (2/2) || Virtue's Last Reward (Interactive, 100%)
Part 86 of my interactive 100% playthrough of Virtue's Last Reward on the Nintendo 3DS.
Shocked for the rest of their lives, Sigma and Alice continue their search of the Rec Room while giving some weird looks at K every once in a while.
Here are some explanations for the remaining puzzles of the room:
—— The Jukebox ——
You can start this puzzle by examining the jukebox after plugging it with the extension cable found on the ride.
This puzzle is not that complex. What you need to do is to input a 2-digit password, composed of one letter and a number, to get a gold disc. There are two gold discs to get. But where are the codes? Well, they come from the ride. After "retrieving" the coins from the ride, simply use one to start the machine. You'll then witness a very... peculiar scene, and a photo will be taken. On the back of the photo resides the codes you're searching for.
After inputing those codes and retrieving the golden discs, simply place them on the frames on the wall just behind you. Doing so will unlock the middle frame and give you access to a dart case, with some dart shafts in it.
—— The Dart Puzzle ——
To start this puzzle, inspect the dartboard. You'll need some complete darts to play though. Basic rules for that puzzle can be found on the "Dart poster" archive, which can be found near the dartboard.
As the archive explains, dartboards are composed of quadrants, each separated in three sections. Each quadrant has a number next to it representing the number of points each quadrant gives. The sections act as multipliers. The outer section is worth X1, the middle one X2, and the inner one X3. The middle is worth 100 points, but it won't be useful for us. What you need to do is to get a score of 91 with three darts.
However, you can't just put the darts wherever you want. You need to have one dart on each color. Also, if you check the inside of the dart case, you'll notice three colored circles, each of a different size. That means that the biggest circle (green in this case) has to be the biggest number, and the smallest circle (red) represents the smallest number. To help you do that, the best way I found is to write all the number possibilities for each color. That can take some time, but it makes all of this so much easier. Once that's done, you can already eliminate some numbers by logic. Since red must be the smallest number, that means every number from the other colors smaller than the smallest red number must be eliminated. Same goes for the blue numbers. Every green number smaller than the smallest blue number must be eliminated as well. After doing this, all that remains is to try different number combinations and hope you get it right. If you get close to 120, try to check if you can add the missing numbers on any of the numbers you have. If the possibility exists and the answer is still respecting the requirements, you have found the correct answer. Solving this puzzle will get you the escape (green) password.
Now, if you check the lid of the dart case, you'll notice two "greater than" symbols between each colored circle. That is the main clue to get the second answer, where the number sizes are inverted. Red becomes the biggest number, and green the smallest. Use the same method as for the first one to determine the numbers and you'll get the bonus file (blue) password in no time.
