Escape Room 3 might not be a sure thing after Escape Room: Tournament of Champions disappointed at the box office.
The horror sequel was released in July 2021 and has grossed only $45 million to date, less than a third of Escape Room's $156 million hauls. It is a difficult time for cinemas though and given the movie's low budget, Sony might still decide on another trip to the world's deadliest escape room.
Escape Room: Tournament of Champions certainly sets up the third movie with plenty of unanswered questions still to resolve. "The worst thing I think we could have done is, like, given everybody the answers," director Adam Robitel told TheWrap.
So if we do get an Escape Room 3, how does the sequel set it up and what can we expect from it?
