If you use a unit like Necromancer and use Fierce Shield (which can outspeed even rare Shiny FOE), it might take an extra turn or so but it would be safer. 3 Ghosts = 3 turns of safety more or less, and you can get kill on T3 so only really need to fend for 2 turns.
