For our first spin through Dharma, I've chosen to play as the Dutch due to their historical interest in India, and creation of the Vereenigde Oostindische Compangnie (VOC). This will let us experience the new Trading Company mechanics from the European perspective. We have to start small though, and the previous DLC introduced a small nation that is rather close to home... and which will need to be grown into the Netherlands proper.

Dharma is the latest expansion for Europa Universalis IV. This includes;
- a new modular government design system where you can pick and choose which bonuses you want.
- reworked policy system, whereby the first in each category is free, and the cap increased to 9 (3 in each). Policies have also been rebalanced.
- new trade company system, involving direct investments to Indian nations for the provinces and then special buildings and upgrades within them benefiting both the European owner and Indian powers in the area.
- special mechanics for the Mughal empire, based around their conquest and assimilation of cultures.
- upgradable Centres of Trade.
- updated and improved map of India (along with new Indian nations, as well as new national ideas and missions).
- overhauled estates system (and new Indian estates)
