So this was another proof of concept for me. For this, I used flat manpower and taxes, before giving random nations tech boosts to see what they would do. Some did rather well. Others did absolutely nothing. For example, the Maldives had max tech from the start of the game, and did nothing with it.

I also learned that the AI, once they pick ideas, will never change those ideas. So they will pick ideas based on what they think is good at the time, and then never change them. This meant that for the most part, the Europeans didn't colonize much, because the ones that were dominant didn't take the ideas that let them do so.

More than that, it appears that tech doesn't really do anything for the tribal american nations, who remained single state entities despite having max tech. Also, Perm, which had no bonuses, became one of the strongest factions by the end somehow.

I also noticed that as the world was carved up, the AI essentially formed giant alliances against each other; it was rather interesting to see, really.

The entire recording took 7.5 hours in total, and I sped it up to 64x so it's only about seven minutes.
