TL;DR - every 2 weeks i let the extractors time out so it saves me at least 2 clicks per planet

With up to 6 planets and 6 clients and 3 characters each that's quite a lot of clicks...although i do 7 clicks per colony and i'd just be adding 2 more clicks if i didn't let them time out. (so it's really only a ~20% time savings)
The REAL bonus to letting them time out is the peace of mind when one knows that if you screwed up the red strike out on a planet icon will alert you to recheck that colony for a missed extractor 'start' (which, if you're worried that means you recheck colonies that don't need rechecking - which means you save a tonne of time)

i'd had to move about the p.i. extractor control unit windows because i'd deleted my cache folders. derp. i hit on the idea of using a "stay on top" window like pirate's little helper, or that DPS graph i use...that allowed quick relocation of the pi windows (the intent was to be able to avoid moving my mouse too much thus saving even more time)

i thought i could save more time by splitting up the actual resetting plus checking silo contents to ensure i wasn't using too many heads on a single resource. so the first bit of the video is reset, the second half silo checking.

as you can see, by not talking (always slows me down) - and hopping between clients whenever one began to show signs of lagging - i was able to trim the time to do all the colonies down to ...what?
6+6+6+6+5+5 = 34 colonies / 31 minutes = 66 seconds a colony. not too shabby. if i didn't check silos that time would be even less.

oh, i haven't really figured out if the planetology skills are worth anything. i suspect they miiiight be the reason my scan range is such that it is for my mains (my alts seem to have problems seeing the scanned resources clearly...they have barely any skills in that, if any)
